Victoria Park
Victoria Park was one of the reasons I bought my house ; it is a large (218 acres) well laid out and well maintained park with lakes, areas for sport and entertainment and a huge collection of trees. It was opened in 1845 as an amenity for the slum dwellers of the East End. I recently bought a vintage bike (I named it Sissy ; it's a ladies bike). My intention is to cycle each morning to make exercise part of my daily routine. I have been lucky because we have had excellent weather in the past week. For those of you concerned about my safety .. the park is closed to traffic and the broad roads are shared with joggers and other bike users. I have devised a route to and from the park which means I am not exposed to the dangers of London road traffic.
It seems ironic that I have photos from several places around the world but until now have neglected to document this lovely spot which is almost my back yard. I particularly like the photo of the formal flower gardens which has a large luminous object in the sky .. not a UFO but the moon.
