Why Shophouse?
I became aware of shophouses on my first trip to Thailand in 1979. I found this type of building attractive ... a combined living/working space. When the opportunity came along to buy a shop in London, I acted (much to the consternation of some friends). I have now converted it to residential use ; it is the white building in the photo. I enjoy living in this urban space.
My backyard Victoria Park
and my bike Sissy
Just a few minutes walk from my house is one of London's best parks - Victoria Park. It is large (218 acres) and bordered on two sides by canals. It was first opened in 1845 intended as a place where East Enders from the crowded slums could benefit from space and fresh air. In good weather I cycle every day in the park on my bike Sissy (so named because it's a lady's model). I enjoy the park because it reminds me of the seasonal changes.
