Japanese Tea Garden, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco

This garden is adjacent to the de Young Museum. In spite of its popularity, it did not feel crowded and the walks provided small calm areas which were totally sheltered. The combination of dwarf trees, clipped hedges, rocks, water and features such as bridges created a world which seemed suspended in time.  Maybe autumn is one of best times for this place, but it was simply ravishing.

This garden is a work in progress which started in 1894 and is currently the object of 'improvements' by the authorities. I cannot see what they need to improve .. let's wait and see.
