Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
KL Bird Park is in Lake Gardens. Although it is in central KL, it is hard to get to by walking, (I did it, but would not recommend it). It is a commercial enterprise - its 38 MR entry fee came as a shock after paying 3 to 10 MR for a wildlife centre or the botanic gardens. Said to be the largest covered aviary in the world, it has a huge area of netting which soars right up into tall trees. However, many of the birds are kept in traditional cages which seem very small. In particular, I thought the owls were far too restricted. The park is built on a hillside and has some attractive trees and plants but they made a poor choice of hard landscaping .. rocks and trees made of concrete were jarring. There are several hornbills, a most unusual bird which I did not see in the Kuching wildlife centre. On balance, worth a visit but my advice is to moderate your expectations.
