Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam
This small botanic garden in central Amsterdam (in the Plantage district and easily accessible by tram) has an ancient history. (founded in 1682). It is on a small site, only 1.2 hectares. The convoluted paths and views of the canal make it seem slightly larger but in any case, it is a welcome respite from Amsterdam street life which can be very hectic.
Three Climate Greenhouse
This is probably the most interesting feature. Sections are devoted to tropical, semi-tropical and desert climates. The plants are unusual, primarily from South Africa and its neighbours. The Palmhouse was under refurbishment during my visit but looked promising. To paraphrase the Michelin Guide Maybe not worth a special visit but well worth a detour when you are in Amsterdam
